Disney’s Pop Century Renovated Rooms

It’s no secret that the rooms at the Pop Century Resort have been renovated. Disney began the renovations in 2017 and completed the project in 2018. However as a Disney travel advisor, I wanted to provide a post for those who may not have seen the new rooms. The Pop Century is a value resort hotel on the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

These are the newly renovated rooms

Disney changed the room complete from top to bottom with a clean crisp appearance to the room. Noted changes are that they removed the shower curtain and replaced it with a sliding glass door. The bathroom vanity area has a fresh clean modular look to it, the flooring carpet was removed and the walls have some fresh paint. The classic Mickey decor over the bed is fun and welcomed change.

The old rooms had multi-colored carpet and the multi-colored walls, and the new rooms have flooring that is a hard wood Pergo style flooring. Because there are no rugs or carpets you may want to bring slippers or socks to wear in the room. As you can see the updated rooms have a fresh new feel to them.

The old room had either one King bed or two double beds. Now there are two queen beds in the room with a stand alone queen bed and a fun Murphy queen bed. This is unique as the value resorts typically have double beds instead of queen beds. The moderate resort hotels have queen beds.

The Murphy bed is a table by day and pulls down to a bed, much like the family suites in the Art of Animation resort.

With the 2nd bed pulled down

It gets fairly crowded in the room with the Murphy bed pulled down, and you have to find a space to put the table chairs aside while the bed is down. The closet space is a bit small but you have the dresser for your clothing. With the cut out cubbies in the bathroom area there is space for your belongings.

This is all the closet space you have in the room

The wall safe didn’t change, other than the paint color but it’s still the same size. You can fit an iPad flat against the wall, which is what is showing in this photo, or small things, but it’s not big enough for a laptop or lots of valuables.

The new mini fridge

New glass door mini fridge

Every Disney World Resort Hotel has a refrigerator of some kind. The majority of hotel rooms have a dorm/mini fridge such as this one, however the deluxe villas and the cabins at Ft. Wilderness will have a full size refrigerator in the kitchen area.

You can see more photos and explore the Pop Century resort hotel at the link below.

Lastly, note that Disney World resort hotels now have a nightly charge for parking. The current fee to park your vehicle at the Pop Century is $13 per night (per vehicle) and will increase in 2020.

  • Parking for reservations made before June 18, 2019 for arrivals in 2020 is $13 per night.
  • Parking for reservations made June 18, 2019 and thereafter for arrivals in 2020 is $15 per night.

As a Disney resort guest you still have complimentary parking at the themeparks. Standard theme park parking is included for registered Guests of Disney Resort hotels and select Annual Passholders. These Guests can also choose to enjoy preferred parking by paying the difference in cost between their included standard parking and preferred parking (difference is currently $20-$25 per day*).

The Pop Century resort hotel is one of the location stops for the new Skyliner transportation connecting you to Hollywood Studios and Epcot themeparks. Take a look.
